Common questions

Before you reach out

Here are a few of the questions we get most often. If your question is not here, please send us a note. We would rather answer too many questions than too few. We will respond within 24 hours.

How do I plan a first visit?
You do not need to do anything special. Come to a Sunday morning service, and our team will welcome you. We are located at 600 Alabama Street, Montgomery. If you would like a heads-up welcome, you can check in securely using our pager or text system and we will look for you.
Can I submit a prayer request privately?
Yes. Our prayer team treats every request with care. You can email tee.riley1914@gmail.com with "Prayer request" in the subject line, or fill out our contact form and note your preference. We handle requests privately, share them with our prayer team only, or follow up with Pastor Riley as you prefer. Nothing is posted publicly unless you ask us to.
How do I join a small group?
We have small groups meeting throughout the year. Fill out the contact form, select "Small groups" from the dropdown, and let us know a bit about yourself and what you are interested in. Our groups team will help connect you with a group that fits.
Can I meet with a pastor?
Absolutely. Dr. T Douglas Riley is available for pastoral conversations by appointment. Fill out the form and choose "Talk with a pastor," share a short note about what you would like to discuss, and our office will get a time on the calendar for you.
What about kids and student ministry questions?
Our Kids and Student ministry leaders are the best people to answer specific questions about safety, programming, and schedules. Choose "Kids or student ministry" from the form dropdown and your note will go directly to the right person on our team. All our volunteers working with children and students are background-checked.
How do I give to the church?
You can give online using a card, text a donation, drop cash or a check in the collection plate during service on Sunday or Wednesday, or mail a check to 600 Alabama Street, Montgomery, AL 36104. Mount Mariah AME Zion is a 501(c)(3) and every gift is tax-deductible. Year-end giving statements go out each January.
