Mt. Moriah African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church has been serving this community for over a century. What began in 1903 as a faithful gathering has grown into a vibrant church family rooted in prayer, praise, and purpose. Today, under the leadership of Dr. T Douglas Riley, we continue to build on that foundation, believing that God is not finished with us yet.
Mount Mariah AME Zion was founded in 1903, rooted in the Methodist tradition and the conviction that the church exists to serve God and neighbor. For over a century, we have gathered to worship, pray, and work together in our community on Alabama Street.
From our earliest days to now, our purpose has remained constant: to know God more deeply, to grow in faith, and to help others do the same. We worship on Sunday mornings and Wednesday afternoons, and we meet throughout the week in prayer, study, and service. Whether through our food pantry, tutoring programs, recovery support, prison ministry, or work in local schools, we carry our faith into the neighborhoods and lives around us.
What began as a gathering of believers committed to following Jesus has grown into a community serving locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. The details of how we worship and serve have evolved. Our calling to build God's kingdom through prayer, praise, and purposeful action has not.
Dr. T Douglas Riley pastor has walked with this community for over 120 years. From our roots to today, God's faithfulness has been the foundation of everything we do.
Since 1903, Mount Mariah has stood on a foundation of faith, prayer, and purpose. Through seasons of growth and challenge, we have held fast to the God who holds us. Our commitments to seeking His guidance, serving our community, and building one another up in Christ remain at the heart of everything we do.
